At a time when artificial intelligence is creating really good artworks, we have to ask ourselves, what is uniquely human about human creativity?
For me, it is the experience of creating.
When Coronavirus halts everything in the world, we are forced to do our routines remotely and virtually. We somehow lost our human touch, our physical experience with each other, and our intimacy. To bring back what we have lost, I asked people on social media to send their portraits to turn into drawings.
These drawings are meant to bring people together, through art, in times of crisis.
The outcome of these drawings matters far less than the process. I was able to be in a wonderful state of creating, experimenting textures, and experiencing the material that makes art inevitable.
